Disability Snooker Day Review
Thank you for the support that I received to help promote the Disability Snooker Day on 7 September 2016 at the 147 Snooker Club in Antrim. I really appreciated the support sadly there wasn’t a great turn out for the event but as it was the first one I expected a small number to turn up.
The event went well and I enjoyed meeting Fred and Lee, it’s nice to have a few practise partners but aside from that it would be nice to form a disabled Snooker Team with a range of different abilities. This is only the start of it….. I am hoping that I can grow the Disability Snooker in Northern Ireland and get more people involved within the Snooker Community. As Snooker is slowly going down hill over the last few years here with clubs closing left, right and center I feel that I have to step in and try and save it from totally going to pot! Nigel Clewer the clubs coach did a few practise routines and gave myself and the lads a few tips. I would like to work with Nigel over the next year to help improve my game.
I would like to thank Vikki Kennedy from Disability Sport Northern Ireland for putting on the event and organising it. Special thanks goes to the staff in the 147 Snooker Club and Nigel Clewer for allowing Disability Sport to use their facitilies. It was a great day and hopefully this will be more sessions coming up soon. If there are any people with a visual impairment or those who have a physical disability and would be interested in participating within the sport please contact me.
